Today I will be writing about what we did on spirit week. This weeks spirit week was really fun. Usually, we would only have one spirit week a year but this year we had three and I think that this one was the most enjoyable one to dress up in. The first day was school spirit and this is not the best one but I know lots of people dress up to participate.
The next day was Tidal Tuesday and that was really fun because we got to dress up in like swim clothes and I just like wearing swim clothes. After that day it was Aloha Wednesday and I wasn’t too happy about this one because I for one don’t like to wear aloha wear so this one didn’t make me happy. Then the next day was Crazy Hair Thursday.
I couldn’t participate in this one because I needed my hair to be normal for my game that day so I didn’t participate in that one. I didn’t like this one too much either, I mean like I don’t do crazy hair so I wasn’t a big fan about this one. The last day was my absolute favorite. It was Sports Friday and let me tell you I love sports. I for one play 3 sports for different teams. So, this one just made me the happiest and I participated in this one because like I needed to.

Today I will be writing about what I did on the track meet and how I did. So, we went on a track meet on April 11. When we got there we set up our tent and all of that, and then we went racing first was relay race and we got 2nd place. Then there were other relays and then the 800 came up. I was running the 800 with one other girl, she was beating me at first but all of a sudden I started catching up to her a eventually passed her to come 1st place girl.
Then there were 400s and other runs then came the 60 and I was running in that too, so when it was my turn I ran and got 3rd. Leilani was also running the 60 with me to so it was a really good match. Then after I went to cornhole and I got 1st place and I was really surprised about that. Then I did softball throw and I got second place and I was really surprised because I don´t usually do good in those things. Lastly was sack race and this was one of my favorites because I was running with Leilani, Jenny, and Chloe. I got 4th because I wasn’t trying at that point because I was really tired.
Then we got on the bus ate lunch then Mr. Kimura gave out our ribbons and what we got and it was really loud so yeah. I had a really fun time at the track meet because its fun to compete out with other schools. I just think that this track meet was one to remember for sure. Then after the ribbon ceremony, we went back to our classes and hung out. Then we got excused home. I had fun and I am looking forward to doing it again next year!
Today I will be writing about the learning showcase and what my class did in it. So what we did in the learning showcase is to show what we did in our OPIHI Field Trip. My group was with Keldon and Ethan and we just explained to the parents what OPIHI is and why it is important to protect this program.
OPIHI is a program that helps algae and students explore in the sea. The program has been going on for 12 years I think. This program is important because they help students learn about OPIHI and how you can help save our coral reefs today! We should all go on the link I have given you and take a look at what they do to help out algae.
I think that my group did really good explaining what OPIHI is and how you should help today. I had to explain what the OPIHI program is about, Keldon had to explain what we did on our field trip, and Ethan had to explain about graphs of many outer states that are helping algae to become a better part of an out environmental system.
Today I will be writing about my OPIHI Field Trip to Sand Island. Basically what we did on the field trip was go out and explore the world of the sea. I was in a group with Keldon and Ethan but Ethan didn´t come because he didn´t bring anything so he couldn´t come. Keldon and I basically went out and got plenty of coral reef in the sea.
We also collected data to make sure of what we found. I saw many new coral reef in the sea and I was glad I was able to go on the field trip. We had Karli as well helping us make sure that we were doing the data right. I had a lot of fun because I thought that it was cool to be able to see many algae and touch them for the first time.
After we were done we went back to school to get snacks and hang out until lunchtime and we got changed as well. We went back to our normal schedule and I thought that it was really fun. I hope one day I will be able to go back to Sand Island and collect more algae and see more fish and other creatures in the future!
Today I will be writing about what is going to happen during spirit week. So what is going to happen is we are all going to be dressed up in some clothes because its a tradition we do in our school. The first day is called HMS Day where kids just dress up in like PE shirts or whatever is school spirited in. Tilted Tuesday is a beach day so wear something beach related but don´t wear something that is inappropriate.
The next day is called Aloha Wednesday were kids dress up in something that has to do with May Day. We are doing this because we need to honor our May Day system even though we are not having it this year. The next day is called Tacky Thursday which is basically when you have Crazy Hair or even dress crazy doesn’t matter what you do just wear something crazy.
The final day is called Sports Friday which is when you wear any sort of sportswear that you have. It doesn’t matter what you wear just make sure that it is sports related. This is our spirit week from April 29-May 3 and I hope that you will participate in it. This year we did 3 so make sure you remember all of them and I’ll hopefully see you wearing it next week!
Today I will be writing about what I did on my spring break. I didn’t actually do much on my spring break but what I did do was play video games. Yup, spent most of my time either working out or playing video games. The first half of my week was pretty boring since I couldn’t do anything at home but I went out and shopped with my mom since that was the only thing keeping me out during the week.
The second half of my week was a little bit better because I went out with my friends to D and B and we just played games there. We also did challenges like who would do better in like basketball and stuff. We also did like a team of 4 to beat some of the games. We did 2v2s as well to see which team could do better. That day was really fun and we got to eat chicken strips with ranch sauce and a milkshake. That was really fun and I enjoyed that day.
The last part of my spring break was the busiest because I had basketball fundraisers and I also had basketball clinics. It took up almost the full day for the fundraiser and the clinic was 4 hours long from 9 to 1. Then after the clinic, I would have a game and we won by a lot to that team. The sad part is that was our last game so we had to wait for our other league to come out which doesn’t even come out till like may! But this is what happened during my spring break!
Today I will be writing about my sleepover with Mari, Leilani, Jenny, Shayann, Jojo, and Chloe. The sleepover was very short but fun. The first thing we did was go to the beach and throw sand balls at each other. Then after like 3 to 4 hours there we went to Jojo’s house to take a bath and get ready for everything. After we took baths, we just relaxed for like an hour or so and played some games with the dogs.
Then I had an eye problem that let me not go to the mall with them. Instead, I stayed home and waited for them to come back. I fell to sleep and after I washed off because I felt weird. Then when I came back we had a karaoke party and we sang almost till our voices were gone. We had a lot of fun singing and dancing to some pretty weird music to me.
After that, we stayed up to bake cakes or at least they did. I was the judge so I didn’t do anything for 3 hours straight. I was instead the camera person who would carry the camera around watching them bake cakes. In the end, it was a tough decision but actually, everyone won because everyone had the same amount of points. We went to bed at 1:30 and got picked up after we went to the mall and played mini golf. It was a fun sleepover and I hope we can do it again.
Today I will be writing about when the Keiai visited for 3 days. My Keiai or Japanese person was named Mao and she was very respectful and nice to me all the time. She treated me very well and I am very glad that she was my penpal to stay with because I enjoyed hanging with her. Her favorite color is blue, she doesn´t like sports or anything really active, her favorite animal is dogs, and she loves to eat everything. I learned a lot about her and she learned a lot about me too!
When they came for our first day, they did a dance and the eighth-grade class did a hula dance. We got to know each other and they showed us a slide show and I play! Then our school did a Taiko Play which includes drums. (I messed up a lot.) Then we took them to lunch and had them chat with each other and let them get to know us better. Then we did activities with our group and it was very fun! When we had to homestay them, I was really happy for another fun day the next day.
The next day we went to Sea Life Park and it was really fun because she got to see so many cool animals that she never would’ve seen in Japan. She also got to touch animals she has never seen before as well. I think that she had a great time and shall treasure every moment she had here at HMS! I miss her a lot and hope to see her next year!!
Today I will be writing about my trip to Disneyland. I loved my trip so much because of all the fun rides we get to go on. I loved my trip because I got to go with my 808 basketball friends. I think that my trip was the best and I didn´t want to leave at all. My friends and I had a blast and I have to share this story with you.
The first thing we did when we went to Disneyland was stand in long lines to get in and also we waited for each other to finish so that took about 25 minutes. The next thing we did is go straight in and look for the tower of terror. After that, we went straight for Incredacoster. The wait was long but so worth it because we had a blast on the ride.
After that, we just went on fun rides and it was all sad when we had to leave. My trip to Disneyland with my 808 friends was the funniest trip ever and the best trip that I could ever ask for in my life. I hope we can do this trip again next year with everyone this time on our 808 teams not only the blue team. (We are separated in different teams, Blue team, Grey team/boys team, and Highschool team.)
